A symposium exploring arts-based methods for Japanese Studies

About this event

Join us for a symposium that explores how arts-based methods can provide new insights into Japanese cultural experience and language through presentations and workshops led by artists and academics.

How can arts-based research enhance our understanding of Japanese cultural experience and language? We are bringing together artists and scholars to explore the futures of Japanese studies. Presentations and workshops at this symposium will explore the application of arts-based research methods as a way of navigating changing research landscapes, empowering and enriching the lives of participants, and providing new insights into the field of Japanese Studies. By opening new avenues for dialogue on issues of migration, technologies, gender and sexualities, language acquisition, and transcultural flows, the goal of reinvigorating and empowering Japanese community members and opening new pathways towards equitable research can be achieved.

This event will be blended, both in-person at UNSW and streamed online via Zoom. See below for details.
